About the event
What is myth-making, anyway?
Myth-making is a uniquely human way of making sense of worlds—their origins, mysteries, wonders, and marvels—through stories. This meaning-making process often intertwines with the ‘fantastical’ (or does it?) and deep metaphors that orient us, offering a sense of place in the vast cosmos. Far from being confined to the past, myth is alive and well, weaving through our daily lives. From the legends we share to the cultural symbols that guide us, myths infuse meaning into reality, giving us ways to dream, explain, and connect. Most significantly, they underpin the grand stories that nations and would-be empires tell themselves to inspire and justify their deeds and place in the world.
