About the event
Priscilla Kennedy is a visual artist whose work redefines boundaries by weaving together the visceral language of the body, memory, and history. Kennedy’s award-winning oeuvre interrogates the female form and its intersections with race, sexuality, and the legacy of objects.
Beatrice Wanjiku’s work probes the human condition and sheds light on societal challenges often overlooked or swept out of sight. Her raw renderings of the human form become a means to go beyond the superficial and to portray, interrogate, and speak of that which is unspoken, unheard, and muted, like femicide and other societal transgressions.
The talk is moderated by Peterson Kamwathi, a revered Kenyan visual artist whose practice explores societal, cultural, and economic issues that are rooted in the local Kenyan context but also engage with global contemporary issues.
