About the event
Painting persists as one of the predominant modes of artistic expression in East Africa, and the approaches of the artists in this exhibition have informed the evolution of figurative art in the region and shaped the broader understanding of what one could call East African Art. Covering a period of approximately 50 years, this exhibition sets up a cross-generational dialogue about the formal, and thematic concerns of these artists.
Mwili, Akili na Roho (Mind, Body and Spirit) offers an entry point for a deeper engagement with the genealogies of artistic creation in East Africa.
