About the event
Facilitated by senior staff and faculty from Zeitz MOCAA and the University of the Western Cape, the Museum Fellowship Programme actively contextualises and enables conversations, debates and storytelling about contemporary art.
During the year-long Museum Fellowship Programme, fellows will enrol in courses at the University of the Western Cape’s History Department while obtaining work experience in the Curatorial, Collection Management, Registry, Art Education and Institutional Advancement departments at Zeitz MOCAA. The academic coursework and work experience integrate the theory and practice of contemporary art, curatorial practice, art education, conservation and museology from Africa and the African diaspora, as well as facilitating networking opportunities and in-person meetings with leading artists, curators and thinkers working in the field.
Based in Cape Town, which is fast becoming a major global art centre, the Museum Fellowship Programme is ideal for anyone interested in further developing their careers in art museums, galleries, art centres, private and public collection management, biennials, art publishing, art festivals and related fields. The Programme covers tuition, accommodation, basic health insurance and a monthly stipend.
